International students are the economic and intellectual lifeblood of higher education in America, particularly at major research universities and medical schools.

Getting rid of them or otherwise putting obstacles in front of them will have a devastating effect on higher education in America, and will seriously undermine American industry expertise and leadership in science, medicine, technology and mathematics. Many universities will likely suffer extreme economic hardship as a result of current anti-immigrant posturing, and the ripple effects will be far-reaching and basically devastating for all Americans.
I wouldn't expect people of a certain political persuasion or cultural mindset to understand any of this. They are driven by xenophobia and very reductive, dangerously simplistic “solutions” to non-problems. ⛅︎
