Please read up on the Dream Act before you speak out against it. Politicians on the right are basically pandering to party extremists and using this issue to mislead their base by calling the Dream Act a "handout." In short, people like Mitt Romney and Ron Paul are characterizing the bill as something it's not.
In reality, the Dream Act is bipartisan, common-sense legislation that provides a path to citizenship for immigrants who meet a strict set of criteria. More specifically, the Dream Act sets forth a very rigorous, conditional path to citizenship that requires completion of a college degree and/or at least two years of honorable military service.
In essence, this legislation provides a path to citizenship to just the kind of motivated young people we want as U.S. citizens, and represents a common-sense solution to real-world problems including America's burgeoning brain drain.
Don't let politicians mislead you on this issue. Read the bill for yourself. It makes a lot of sense and needs to pass! ☕︎
